George Leitmann papers, 1955-2008.

Consists primarily of correspondence, printed materials (offprints of articles and monographs), subject files, records regarding the UCB Richmond Field Station and the establishment of the "research campus" there, and publications. Also includes course materials, as well as correspondence and lectures relating to the Alexander von Humboldt Association of America, which was founded by Leitmann.

George Leitmann received a B.S. (1949) and an M.A. (1950) in physics from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in engineering science from U.C. Berkeley (1956). He joined the Berkeley faculty in 1957. He was chair of the faculty in the College of Engineering from 1994 to 1998. He served as director of international programs from 2001 to 2003, and then associate dean for international relations from 2003 to present, both in the College of Engineering.
